01Which wind direction works at Petten
Wind from the west-northwest blows straight onto the beach. Safe is wind from south-southwest (204°) through west-northwest to north-northeast (14°).
- Side-onshore 220° to 270° and 310° to 0°: the best angle: you ride back and forth easily and the wind pushes you back to the sand.
- Straight onshore 270° to 310°: safe, you always wash up on the beach, but getting away from the shore takes effort.
- Side-shore 0° to 14° and 204° to 220°: good to ride, but you do not drift back by yourself; stay close to the shore.
- Offshore 14° to 204°: the wind blows you out to sea; Kitewind does not count these hours as a session.
