01Which wind direction works at Ameland Waddenzee
Wind from the south-southwest blows straight onto the beach. Safe is wind from east-southeast (107°) through south-southwest to west (277°).
- Side-onshore 120° to 170° and 210° to 260°: the best angle: you ride back and forth easily and the wind pushes you back to the sand.
- Straight onshore 170° to 210°: safe, you always wash up on the beach, but getting away from the shore takes effort.
- Side-shore 107° to 120° and 260° to 277°: good to ride, but you do not drift back by yourself; stay close to the shore.
- Offshore 277° to 107°: the wind blows you out to sea; Kitewind does not count these hours as a session.
